Children & Families

Are you a parent and/or carer of a child or young person with additional needs living in the Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames ?

Would you like advice and support on any number of issues?

Richmond AID access Service

Who We Are

From Monday 2nd April, the access service moved to Richmond AID. The access service aims to support families with disabled children and disabled parents in a range of different ways using its wealth and experience on an assortment of subjects.

How access can help families

When your child is first diagnosed with a disability or illness, you may be provided with a vast amount of facts and statistics which could be daunting, or worse, you may receive no information at all.

Perhaps you and your family are coping, then your child goes through a new transitional stage, perhaps a new school or facing puberty and you find yourself in need of new or different services and don’t know where to go!

Whatever the situation, access can help point you in the right direction and can support you with a wide range of issues including:

  • Social, leisure and out of school activities
  • Financial support for families (including benefits)
  • Education
  • Short breaks and respite
  • Health services
  • Local authority services
  • Support for parent/carers
  • Support for siblings
  • Counselling services
  • Support from local charities

The service operates on Mondays and Fridays 9 to 5pm.

To contact the access team call 020 8831 6076 or email info@accessinfoservice.com or visit the access website for further information at http://accessinfoservice.com/.

You can contact Lena Vantol, Information and Advice Co-ordinator for access on 020 8831 6076 or email l.vantol@richmondaid.org.uk

For benefits you can call Yvonne Baxtrem, Children and Families Officer on 020 8831 6080 or email y.baxtrem@richmondaid.org.uk

Below is a quote from a parent of a disabled child that has used our service

‘The service  has been absolutely amazing. I did not know such service existed. It has made me feel far more positive and optimistic for the opportunities available for my children. I now know there are services / people who can help and support us as a family. This is a fantastic service.’
