The Benefits Service is a free service for people receiving or applying for disability benefits in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. This project is funded by Richmond upon Thames Council and enables us to assist people with form filling, benefit reviews so that people receive all the benefits they are entitled to. We can meet people face to face or arrange for telephone consultations.
What the Service Provides
Our advisors Jo-Anne, Yvonne, Stephanie, Jill, Pauline and Joan offer not only accurate and honest advice but also:
- Checks on eligibility and entitlement
- Information on how to apply
- Assistance with filling in all benefits forms
- Details and information on how to challenge a decision
- A sympathetic and listening ear
The service also offers help to people who are applying for social care and support from the Council and need to complete a Financial Assessment form.
Our advisors have received extensive training and are mainly working from the Disability Action and Advice Centre in Teddington. We also offer the service from other locations in the borough through outreach and are able to visit clients at home.
Below are some comments from people that have used the Benefits Service. For more examples of people that have used our services visit the Case Studies page.
Since the award of the HR mobility we have been able to qualify for a mobility car which will be a godsend for shopping, doctors and hospitals.
Takes the stress out of having to call HM Revenue via typetalk which takes too long.
Wonderful place to come for help. Thank you.
Helped me to fill out a very complicated benefits form. It impacted greatly-as due to my health would have been unable to do this myself.
My daughter has a very rare condition called holoprosencephaly … and the support is very needed. The service has been fabulous! Without it I would not have completed my daughter’s DLA form.
