Here is the dialogue – the transcription – of the video;

How was your situation before coming to Richmond aid and what issues or difficulties were you faced with?

Well, I’d already been to one tribunal and been turned down. And at that stage I just thought that’s it, I’m obviously not entitles to it. Then one day I was sitting at the doctors and I saw the magazine in the rake, picked it up, read it, phoned up, left a message and they even got back to me on it. I when to see her brought all my information in medical records and everything else and she went nope your entitled to it. I’ve done the forms and she sorted everything out for me and basically took everything off my shoulders for me. Without her … she’s been an absolutely angle. I can’t say more than that about the place it’s been absolutely brilliant.

So you found the services at Richmond AID useful?

Yer basically yer cos I’ve never seen the magazine before and it’s not very well advertised you need to get out there more. It is a good place to be.

How did Richmond AID help?

Literally she done all the forms helped me with everything. She helped me get a solicitors to help me and come with me to the hearings. As every time I filled the form in it was an automatic no, you’re not having it. So in that respect it took a lot of stress of me. It was coming in, sit down have a chat. It was more friendly than anything else.

So you found the whole process useful and supportive?

I couldn’t have done it without it. I actually had four tribunals, towards the end and the last one they gave me it on. Even with all the help the stress of me alone was horrendous, I couldn’t believe the stress that was on me but it would be a lot sooner than four years if it hadn’t been for them.

So you’ve got a resolution now?

Yep it all went really well, I got my judgement for me. I got it all backdated for a year. Which let every bit of pressure lifted of me. It got to a point where just trying to keep myself mobile it was costing me insurance, tax on my car and £100 a week is nigh on impossible you just got to go without. Food even sometimes.

Would you say this has help to make things easier?

Without this, without Richmond AID  I wouldn’t of done this god know what would of happened to me in four years. There was no way I could of worked or anything, I couldn’t even do a little side job so there was no extra money coming in. Alright my rent was being paid and council tax but I still had bills.

The most stressful things in life is to a be disabled and b to not have anybody there for you and Richmond AID is there for you. There’s help there no matter what you need or what you want you can ring up at any time,  you  can come in. they help with your disability badge, anything, it’s all here in one place
