Clarendon Youth Opportunities

The Clarendon Ongoing Youth Opportunities 2012 scheme, supported by Aiming High, provides a range of exciting activities for young people with learning disabilities, aged 8-17, living in or around the town of Richmond. The aim of this scheme is to help develop the independence and self-confidence of young disabled people, all in a safe and secure setting, whilst also giving valuable respite for carers.

Approximately 75 activities are organised every year by the Clarendon scheme and these can widely vary from sports to music and drama.  The activities seek to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and are seen as a contribution towards isolation for this particularly vulnerable group.

The Clarendon scheme also seeks to create opportunities where young people, both with and without a learning disability, can contribute to their community and gain valuable volunteering experience.

The COPE level 3 is offered to interested young people (worth 70 points at UCAS) as part of the principle of investing in people, as well as work towards nationally recognised volunteering awards such as V50 and VImpact.
